Welcome Spring

Just before Christmas some tulips were pushing through the soil in a pot on my south-east facing balcony.  They seem to have done an about turn and lowered themselves back under the soil!  I guess it's the equivalent of us humans staying under the duvet, very understandable in this very deep mid-winter! 

I'm not wishing my life away but I thought I'd have a go at a design to say a big welcome to spring, when it decides to arrive - I reckon many will think it can't be a moment too soon but I actually like walking in the country in winter.  Though I have to admit the weather this week was so bad that we had to miss our rambling, though I heard some people madder than us did actually go.

Skinny Trees

I was determined to use some of these Dovecraft Christmas papers left over from last year (not one of my best buys - I just haven't found them very inspiring) on at least one card.  I found a sketch on Friday Sketchers (sketch #83) and this is the result.  While I think it is OK it's not, in my opinion, the really special card I wanted it to be.

OK, So It's Not Got To Be Red & Green!

Ok, so I did try and experiment with some non traditional colours.  But they just don't feel 'Christmassy' to me.  I used this card to enter the Dare U To Digistamp Challenge #28.

It's Got To Be Red & Green!

Now this isn't usually my style at all but I just love the Pink Petticoat Skinny Tall Christmas Tree digistamps.  So I slaved away at forty cards in red & green. Yum.  Had to send out for red gitter glue supplies and I also ran out of ribbon.  I decided to try and make some from a digikit.  I printed loads of these red check 'ribbons' onto some 120 gsm coated paper.  It turned out brilliantly.  The heavy density of the paper made them so easy to work with, much better than actual ribbon.  I entered this card in the Shirley's Two Girls Challenge.

Babies Galore

This autumn has seen a lot of new additions to families of our friends and I've been busy rustling up celebratory cards.  Here are a couple of them.

The yellow and blue one is my favourite.  The nappy pin is a decorative button that I'd forgotten I had.  It's amazing what you find when you delve to the bottom of your craft supplies!

More Doodledallions

What great weather for card making & blogging (in the UK it is foul weather today).  I love this new digistamp set and had to give it another go.  There will be plenty more goes too I'm sure!  I was hoping for a swirly and glittery card but masculine.  Probably a bit of a mad combination but this is what I came up with.

The design is based on a sketch from the Card Patterns blog.  The competition was already over before I found it but it just inspired me anyway.  I have only just discovered this blog and am rather taken with this weeks sketch as well.

Wedding Overseas

Hi everyone, I have so struggled trying to find an image for a card to celebrate my friend's wedding,  It is an Asian wedding and non of the usual wedding images seemed to work.  Then I found these images from Fred, She Said (Flowering Hearts Doodledallions Digi Set) which I think are lovely with the hearts incorporated.  So this is my first effort with my new digi stamps.

I used the sketch from Sketch Saturday #76, though I did miss an element or two off the sketch.  However, I gave it a go.  I love this sort of image, I know that sweet little characters are all the rage at the moment for stamps and digi stamps but they are just not my thing.

Sparkly Moon

Thanks for dropping by. This is today's creation, a birthday card for a nine year old girl. She is a bit of a princess so I think she will like it. It is a very sparkly moon but my camera, or maybe my photography, or both, is not good enough to show it. The sketch is 2 Sketches 4 You #33.

We had quite a bizarre evening. Our Rambler's walking group was attacked by a very angry horse. One woman was kicked and knocked to the ground. Thankfully, we all escaped without any major injuries. It was just so weird.

Papertake Weekly Challenge #21 - Back To The Perfumery

This is such a fun Sketching Stamper digistamp. I was very keen to give it another go straight away. This time I only used two colours (rather than three previously) and I found it more tricky.

Curved Cards

I so loved 'The Next Step' blog. I was so sorry to hear they wer unable to continue to to ill health. Anyway, I finally got round to using one of the templates that are still available to download.
